Profiles and Accounts Explained
The profiles and accounts used to define players in LBP are created and maintained outside of the game itself. Individual players that wish to track their personal progress in the game are required to create a unique PS3 user profile. This profile ensures that a new save file is created when starting LBP for the first time. In order to take advantage of the PlayStation Network features in LBP, a PSN account is required. This account identifies the player in the world of LBP, where creations can be shared with other players.
Creating a New PS3 User Profile
To make a new profile that will be used to define a separate LBP save file, you must first access the "Users" section of the main PS3 menu. Highlight the "Create New User" option, and press the "X" button. Use the text entry controls to enter the desired user name. Highlight the "OK" icon, and press the "X" button to create the new user. Highlight a profile in the Users menu, and press the "X" button to switch between users.
Creating a New PSN Account
You will need to create a PSN account that is linked to your newly created PS3 user profile. Scroll to the "PlayStation Network" section of the main PS3 menu. Select "Sign up for Playstation Network" from the list of options. Complete the required personal information and e-mail address fields. This is the name that will appear in your profile with you interact with other LBP players. Continue entering the required personal information. Highlight the "Confirm" icon, and press the "X" button to create the new account.
Creating a New LBP.me Account
LBP.me is the official website used by Sony and Media Molecule to organize and display individual LBP profiles and creations. After creating a new PS3 user profile and PSN account, you will need to play LBP at least one time before attempting to link your profile to the LBP.me database. From your computer, click the "Sign In" button on the LBP.me home page. Enter your PSN account e-mail address and password to access the site. Select "Settings" from the Options drop-down menu to customize your online profile.
