Solid Red, Green or Blue
A solid red light on the front of your PS3 console indicates that the system is in sleep mode but functioning properly. Press the ̶0;Power̶1; button on the console or the ̶0;PlayStation̶1; button on your controller to turn on the console. A solid green indicates that the PS3 is turned on and functioning properly. A solid blue light indicates that a disc is being read by the PS3 console.
Flashing Red or Green to Yellow to Red
The flashing red light indicates that there's an internal problem with the PS3 power supply. Your power supply can become compromised after leaving the PS3 on for extended periods of time, plugging the PS3 into an electrical outlet without a surge protector, or through normal deterioration of of the power supply. Any other internal failure causes the indicator lights to cycle from green to yellow to red. Common failures include errors with the motherboard, hard drive failure and failures of the wireless Internet receiver. Internal problems can be resolved and serviced only by Sony.
Flashing Green
The green light will flash while the system is shutting down. This process may take several minutes while the PS3 saves information to the hard drive. Avoid shutting off the power or unplugging the unit while the flashing green light is on to avoid damage to your PS3̵7;s hard drive.
Flashing Blue
The flashing blue light will continue after a disc was inserted into the PS3 or while it's preparing to be ejected. If the blue light flashes for a long time, the disc may be stuck. To remove the disc, unplug the PS3 from the wall and turn the system over. Open the screw cover located at the front of the unit and remove it to gain access to the blue screw. Insert a small Phillips-head screwdriver in the hole opposite the blue screw and rotate the screwdriver counterclockwise to eject the disc.
