Instructions
Check your Internet connection. Select the "Network Settings" menu on the XMB (Xross Media Bar). Look for an active connection, or your wireless network if the console is currently disconnected. Re-enter your most recent wireless network password. The PlayStation 3 can connect to your router through a direct Ethernet connection or a wireless signal, so try a direct, wired connection if you still encounter problems with the wireless receiver.
Log out of your PSN account and log back in with your PSN username and password. If you made any changes to your account on the standard browser website, these changes are not automatically reflected on your console's settings. Changing a password without updating your console's password will prevent you from logging in to the network.
Eliminate other sources of high bandwidth traffic on your network, such as large downloads or streaming video. Limited bandwidth on a shared network can result in dropped connections and lagging during online gameplay. Simply close out of your downloads and turn off any streaming media on other computers or devices on your network to optimize traffic for your PlayStation.
Enter the eight-digit error code (if one is displayed) in the indicated field at the PSN Support website. If the error code corresponds to a potential solution, the website will display specific instructions for resolving the error.
