How to Make a PS3 Disc Work With Scratches on the Front

The PlaysStation 3 (PS3) is a seventh-generation video gaming system. Since its introduction in November 2006, it has sold more than 50 million units. The system utilizes several media formats, including PlayStation game discs, Blu-ray discs, DVDs and compact discs. Over time, a gaming disc can get scratched, which may affect its playability. The best way to get your PS3 disc working again is to clean the disc.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold the disc in your hand by grasping the edges of the rim. Avoid placing your fingers on the surface of the disc as this can damage it.

    • 2

Wipe the surface of the disc using a microfiber cloth. Start at the innermost circle of the surface and wipe the straight toward the edge. Avoid wiping the disc in a circular pattern as this can worsen the scratch. Continue this wiping pattern around the entire surface of the disc.

    • 3

Apply a dab of Brasso to the tip of a cotton swab. Use the cotton swab to apply the Brasso to the damaged areas of the disc. Rub the cotton swab gently onto the damaged areas of the disc using small circular motions. Continue to apply the Brasso until the scratch disappears or lightens.

Wipe the surface of the disc using a microfiber cloth to remove the remaining Brasso. Again, wipe the cloth across the surface in a straight line, from the innermost circle to the edge.
