How to Replace a PS3 Blu-Ray Drive Onto a Different Drive Board

The PlayStation 3 is as vulnerable as other consumer electronic products are to erratic electronic behavior. Only an authorized dealer can replace a damaged drive board on the PS3, but you do not have to send the console in with the Blu-ray drive attached. You can remove the Blu-ray drive to avoid possible problems occurring during transit and attach it to the replacement drive board when the PS3 is returned. The procedure is straightforward and requires the use of special tools that you can get from a hardware store.

Things You'll Need
