Place the PS3 next to the LCD television that it is going to be used with. Plug the PS3's power cord into an outlet. Insert one end of a HDMI cable into the HDMI output on the back of the PS3. Insert the other end of the HDMI cable into one of the HDMI inputs on the back or side of the LCD television.
Insert one end of a video cable into the video output on the back of the PS3. Insert the other end of the video cable into a video input on the front, side or back of the LCD television.
Turn the television on with its remote. Press "Menu," followed by "Video," followed by "Video input.'" Select the video input that the video cable is plugged into. Press "Menu" to exit the settings.
Plug the USB cable attached to the PS3 video game controller into a USB port on the front of the PS3. Press and hold your finger against the pressure sensitive power button on the right corner of the ledge at the front of the PS3. Remove your finger when the LED begins to flash a green light. Let the PS3's menu appear on the LCD television before continuing.
Select "System Settings" from the menu using the direction pad of the controller. Press the "X" button. Select "Video," followed by "Video output." Select "Automatic," followed by "HDMI." Unplug the video cable from the PS3 and from the TV. Press the "Menu" button on the TV's remote.
Select "Video," followed by "Video input.'" Select the HDMI input that the HDMI cable is plugged into. Press "Menu" to exit the settings and see the PS3's menu on the LCD TV.
Select "Next" from the PS3 menu using the controller. Continue to select "Next" on the rest of the screens until you come to the screen that says you are done. Press the "O" button on the controller to exit the settings.
