Basic Game-Play
The main objective of the game is to successfully complete each school year's mission, beginning with the first year and continuing through to the fourth. Solve puzzles, find bonuses and collect bricks, coins and other objects to increase your completion percentage. Keep an eye out for red bricks, which mark the locations of bonuses. Throughout game-play, utilize a game map of Hogwarts to help you locate certain rooms.
Split-Screen Tips
When playing with another player, the game will automatically split into two screens to allow you and the other player to play independently. If this happens, continue to play and disregard the other half of the screen. Do not allow yourself to get distracted as you could make an error in the game. If you do find this distracting, simply work with the other player to ensure you are close enough that the split-screen mode never engages.
Utilize Characters' Strengths
As in the books and movies, Harry is the most skilled at flying on broomsticks, which is useful when needing to reach high places or cross large gaps. Hermione is, as always, the brainy one, and has a book that helps you solve certain puzzles. Ron has his pet rat Scabbers, who can enter small areas otherwise deemed unreachable. Other characters also maintain their skills. For example, Hagrid is stronger than the children and can move heavy objects, while Goblins can open locks in the game. Just as in the books and movies, they have access, and keys, to the bank vaults.
Walkthroughs
You can find online walkthrough guides, written by avid players themselves, for nearly every video game on the market. While these are user-generated, they are strictly monitored by fellow players, who provide comments on the information, especially if it is inaccurate. The guides can provide helpful explanations on levels and provide assistance when you get stuck. You can also access game cheat codes and tips on reaching secret levels, unlocking additional characters and other game tricks.
