G4 How to Check the PS3 NAT Settings on a Linksys

If your PS3 is connected to the Internet through a router and you frequently play online games with it, it is important that you have the NAT (Network Address Translation) setting disabled. This setting controls how devices connect through the router and how inbound and outbound traffic is routed. If you use a Linksys router, you can check the current NAT setting by going into your router̵7;s configuration menu. This menu is accessible through the Web browser on your computer (e.g., an Apple PowerBook G4 laptop). Whether you have a Mac or PC, checking the NAT settings on your Linksys is the same process.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a Web browser on a computer connected to your Linksys router network, and type ̶0;192.168.1.1̶1; into the address bar. When prompted, enter your user name and password (by default there is no user name and the password is ̶0;admin̶1;).

    • 2

Select the ̶0;Security̶1; tab from the main menu of your Linksys router, and then open the ̶0;Firewall̶1; section.

    • 3

Deselect the ̶0;Filter Internet NAT Redirection̶1; check box if it is checked, and then click the ̶0;Save Settings̶1; button. Your PS3 is now ready for online gaming through your Linksys router.
