Instructions
Plug in the PS3's power cable.
Connect one end of the HDMI cable to an HDMI port on the TV set.
Run the HDMI cable to the PS3 and connect the other end to the system's HDMI port located on the back of the system.
Connect the composite or component cables to the TV set. Insert each plug into the port on the TV that matches its color.
Connect the box-shaped end of the composite or component to the PS3's AV/out port located on the back of the system.
Turn on the PS3 console.
Power on the TV set and set the video source to either component or composite to connect to the PS3, depending on which one you used.
Select "Settings" and "Display Settings" on the PS3's XMB with the system's controller.
Choose the "Video Output Settings" options.
Highlight the "HDMI" option from the list and press the "X" button.
Press the "X" button again to accept the change video prompt.
Change the video source on the TV set to HDMI and press "X" if you see an image. If you don't see an image, repeat the process from Step 3.
Highlight the check marks next to the 480p and 720p options. Also highlight the check marks next to 1080i and 1080p if you have a "full HD" TV set.
Press the right directional arrow on the control pad, select the 16:9 aspect ratio and press the right arrow again.
Press the "X" button again to save the settings.
Select "Settings," "Sound Settings" and "Audio Output Settings" from the XMB menu.
Choose the HDMI option and press "X."
Select all the highlighted options on the "Audio Formats" list and press "X" twice to finalize and save the settings.
Remove the composite/component cables.
