How to Hook a PS3 to a Laptop for Wi-Fi

Internet Connection Sharing is a special feature available to use with Windows computers for sharing an Internet connection with additional network devices. If your laptop has two network connections, one wireless -- which connects it to a Wi-Fi network -- and one Ethernet, you can hook up your PlayStation 3 to the Ethernet port and use Internet Connection Sharing to access the Internet from your PS3.

Instructions

    • 1

      Insert an Ethernet cable into your PS3̵7;s network port and then connect the other end to your computer̵7;s network port. Turn on your computer if it isn̵7;t on already.

    • 2

      Go to the Start menu on your computer and click on ̶0;Control Panel.̶1; Select ̶0;Network and Internet,̶1; choose ̶0;Network and Sharing Center,̶1; and then click ̶0;Change adapter settings̶1; in the left pane.

      Right-click on your wireless adapter (the adapter providing your WiFi connection) and select ̶0;Properties.̶1; Open the ̶0;Sharing̶1; tab and tick the ̶0;Allow other network users to connect through this computer̵7;s Internet connection̶1; check box. Click ̶0;OK.̶1;

      Turn on your PS3 console. It will now connect to the Internet through your computer̵7;s Wi-Fi connection. To connect your PS3 to the Internet using this connection in the future, turn on your computer first and it will automatically connect.
