AV Cable
The PS3 comes with an AV cable with red and white audio jacks and a yellow video cable. These can be connected to their matching ports on the Phillips TV or via a SCART connection, if you prefer this. The quality of the video is not as high as with other cables, but it is the most common way to connect the PS3 to most TVs. You must then tune your TV to the AV channel or the TV might pick up the SCART signal automatically.
S-Video Cable
An S-video cable can be purchased separately to connect your PS3 to a TV. This is a single cable which has pins in it and plugs into the S-video slot on a Phillips TV. The cable is sold separately to the PS3. The signal received is a standard video signal, not high-definition.
AV Component Cable
The AV component cable has five connections and is used to connect the PS3 to a TV via a high-definition connection. It has red green and blue connections for video and audio and is the next best alternative to using an HDMI cable. You run the cable from the PS3 to the matching ports on the TV. The cable is sold separately to the PS3.
Optimizing the Signal
To get the best picture out of the cable that you are using to connect your PS3 to the Phillips TV, navigate to the "Settings" icon in the PS3 menu. Go to "Display Settings" and the "Video Output Settings" menu. Set up your PS3 to the best picture you can by making adjustments in this menu and seeing the on-screen results.
