How to Load PKG Files From Your Laptop to a PS3 via USB

A .pkg is a package file. You can install SonyPlayStation 3 .pkg files on your PS3 using the USB ports on the console, but only if your PS3 is jailbroken. Loading .pkg files from your laptop to a PS3 is a simple file transfer process. Download PS3 .pkg files from the Web onto your laptop, then copy them to a flash drive. You can then install the .pkg files on your PS3 from the flash drive.

Instructions

      Plug the flash drive into an unused USB port on your laptop.

      Open the Start menu. Select ̶0;Computer.̶1; Use the console tree in the left-side panel to browse to the directory on your laptop that contains the .pkg files you want to install on your PS3.

      Hold the ̶0;Ctrl̶1; key down as you click on each .pkg file to select it. Press ̶0;Ctrl̶1; plus ̶0;C̶1; to copy the selected .pkg files.

      Click on the listing for the USB flash drive in the left-side panel. Right-click on an empty area in the right-side panel. Select ̶0;Paste̶1; from the shortcut menu to copy the .pkg files to the root of the flash drive

      Unplug the flash drive from the laptop.

      Turn on the PS3 and the TV it is hooked up to. Plug the flash drive into one of the USB ports on the PS3.

      Press the arrow keys on the PS3 controller to navigate to ̶0;Game̶1; in the PS3̵7;s XrossMediaBar menu.

      Highlight ̶0;Install Package Files.̶1; Press ̶0;X̶1; on the controller to select the highlighted item.

      Highlight and select the .pkg file you want to install on the PS3. Repeat to install additional .pkg files.
