Instructions
Delete old files and games from your PlayStation 3 hard drive. Clearing the hard drive will help increase the processing speed of the system.
Turn off any processes the PlayStation 3 may perform on its own, such as screen savers or updates. Using such processes requires the system to keep track of the intervals between each usage, taking up more processing power.
Enter the "System Settings" from the PlayStation 3 main menu. Turn off the "Display What's New" option and the "Media Server" option.
Enable the network setting "UPnP" so that your PS3 will have a host, which will improve performance and communication from the system to your router.
Consider connecting to the PlayStation Network directly with an Ethernet cord, rather than via wireless.
Disable the SPI Firewall on your router and open all ports for the PlayStation 3. Do this by going into your router configuration and changing the settings.
