DIY Modded PS3 Controllers

One of the most practical and useful modifications for a PlayStation 3 (PS3) video game console controller is to add a rapid-fire chip. This small chip enables rapid fire on the controller with the push of a single button. This is useful when playing shooting or other action-based games. The chip attaches to the controller via an adhesive so there is no soldering involved in the process.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the PS3 controller from the port on the front of the console if it isn't a wireless controller.

    • 2

Use a small Phillips screwdriver to remove the five screws on the back of the controller.

    • 3

Pull the back case of the controller off and set it aside. The main circuit board will now be exposed in the controller housing.

    • 4

Lift the rectangular battery off of the top of the board, and place it to the side of the controller.

    • 5

Remove the adhesive sticker from the panel on the underside of your mod chip, and place the chip over the square black chip in the center of the board.

    • 6

Replace the battery and back of the controller. Replace the screws.
