How to Hook Up a PS3 Online With a Charter Cable Modem

The Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) is an Internet-enabled gaming console that can connect to any high-speed Internet network. With the Internet connection set up, the PS3 can access the PlayStation Network to play games online, download content from the PlayStation Store and chat with friends on your friends list. Charter cable modems include the necessary Ethernet port to hook up the PS3 to the Internet.

Instructions

      Connect the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the back of your PS3 console.

      Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on your Charter cable modem.

      Turn on your PS3 and scroll to the ̶0;Settings̶1; tab.

      Scroll down and select ̶0;Network Settings.̶1;

      Check that ̶0;Internet Connection̶1; is enabled. If it is not, highlight it and press ̶0;X̶1; to enable it.

      Scroll down and select ̶0;Internet Connection Settings.̶1;

      Select ̶0;Yes̶1; to confirm that the Internet connection will be disconnected while you configure the settings.

      Select ̶0;Easy̶1; for the setting method that you want to use. The system will automatically configure your Ethernet settings and connect to the Internet.

      Press ̶0;X̶1; to save your Internet settings.
