How to Make a Survival Challenge on LittleBigPlanet

"LittleBigPlanet" is an creation game in which players are allowed to make and edit their own stages, which can be shared with others on the PlayStation Network. One level design is called Survival Challenge, in where the goal is to keep your sack puppet alive as long as possible while the stage introduces increasingly difficult obstacles. Survival Challenge stages are typically small, have a theme that ties in to the survival aspect and never end until the player dies. Players are given a score based on their performance and how long they survived.

Instructions

  Load "LittleBigPlanet" and select the "MyMoon" option from the main menu. Select a level to load or create a new one to begin working on.

  Open your "Popit" menu by pressing "Square" and select the "Popit Cursor" to move the entrance portal to a convenient location, based on your survival stage design.

  Open the "Popit" menu and select the "Tools Bag," then create a wedge or piston device to take the portal entrance from the starting location to the score board at the end of the level, which can be seen in the background.

  Select a switch or button from the "Tools Bag" and place it down at the start of your level. Select the "Popit Cursor" and use it to connect the switch to the piston or wedge device from Step 3. Now, when the button is pressed, it will take your entrance portal to the end of the stage.

  Open your "Popit" menu and select the "Goodies Bag" to find materials, items and decorations to use in your stage creation. Create the survival aspect of the level, such as a platform the player must stay on or objects that must be avoided.

  Open the "Tools Bag" and select a tool to create the death aspect of the stage, such as the "Flame Tool," "Gas Tool" or the "Electric Tool," which will apply those aspects to the surface of your choice. This will make a surface that the player must avoid in order to survive. Alternatively, you can open the "Dangerous Kit," located in the "Tools Bag," which has items such as spikes, explosives and plasma balls that can be used to kill the player.

  Open the "Popit" and select the "Popit Cursor," connect the switch from Step 4 to the killing device from Step 6. This will make it so that when the switch is pressed, both the survival challenge will begin and the entrance portal will move to the end of the stage.

  Save your level and exit. Play the level to test and see whether it is to your liking.
