How to Connect a PS3 Multiplayer Controller

The PlayStation 3 can have up to seven controllers connected to it at once. This allows some multiplayer games to be played on a single console by several people simultaneously. To successfully connect all controllers they must first be synchronized with the PlayStation 3 console that will host the game. Each controller connects to the console automatically when it is turned on after it has been synchronized. After the first controller is connected, each subsequent controller that connects to the console will be assigned a player number between two and seven.

Instructions

  1. Synchronize Controllers

    • 1

Push the ̶0;Power̶1; button on the right side of your PlayStation 3 to turn it on.

    • 2

Plug the USB cable supplied with your PlayStation 3 into the top port on the controller you want to synchronize. Plug the other end of the cable into a USB port on your console.

    • 3

Push the ̶0;PS̶1; button on the controller to turn it on and start the synchronization process. The lights on the controller will flash and it will pair with the console.
