How to Beat the Big Monkey on Castlevania for the PS3

The big monkey in "Castlevania: Lords of Shadow" for the PlayStation 3 (PS3) is not actually a monkey, but rather a Swamp Troll. This particular boss is a subspecies of the larger cave troll and fills the role of Boss Monster for the third stage of the game's first act. The troll is not especially difficult to kill, provided you follow a few well-thought-out strategies while doing so.

Instructions

- 1
  Keep away from the troll. Most of his attacks are melee-range only and will miss wildly as long as you are not in the area.

  Strike the troll with ranged attacks and area-effect attacks. This will allow you to do damage without having to get close enough for him to strike you.
- 3
  Roll away from the troll every time he gets close. This should keep you away from the gravestones he swings at you.
- 4
  Jump over the shockwave generated by the troll's "ground pound" attack, then return to slapping him with your strongest ranged attacks.
