How to Make Pictures Burned to DVD Readable by PS3

The PlayStation 3 (PS3) is Sony's third home console and the first fully integrated as a "set top box," incorporating the ability to display various multimedia files including videos, music and photos. These can be transferred or displayed from USB flash drives, various SD card formats or DVDs created by burning programs on PCs. The PS3 reads many different picture formats, so creating a PS3-friendly picture DVD is a matter of proper formatting.

Instructions

    • 1

Start a new project in your preferred DVD-burning software. Because you won't be burning any special type of information, such as video DVD menu data, just create a new folder and call it "Pictures."

    • 2

Select pictures or a folder of pictures and copy them to this folder, then burn this project to a new DVD-R. Make sure the file type is either JPEG, GIF, PNG, TIFF or
      BMP.

    • 3

Insert this disk into the PS3 and navigate to the "Photo" tab on the XrossMediaBar (XMB). The first icon under this tab should be your DVD.
