How to Calibrate Gameplay on a PS3

PlayStation 3 games have many calibration options that affect gameplay, usually when you opt to start a new game. The most common option that you can calibrate to your preference is a game's difficulty setting. This can change many factors, but usually makes the game easier or harder based on your selection. Some games have additional options. For example, a game may ask you to adjust the game's brightness until an icon on the screen is barely visible. This will optimize the game's light settings.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your PlayStation 3 console and insert the game disc. Scroll left or right to the game controller icon on the PlayStation 3 media menu and then scroll down to the game disc icon. Press the "X" button.

    • 2

Wait for the game's main menu screen to appear. If prompted, press the "Start" button when the game's splash screen appears to go to the main menu.

    • 3

Select the "New Game" option and choose a difficulty setting from the selection. The usual choice is a variation of either "Easy," "Medium" or "Hard" options.

    • 4

Select any other options that the game asks you to choose, such as how many players are playing the game, screen brightness and contrast levels, the amount of gore or if you want subtitles.
