How to Configure the PS3 Back to Normal Video & Audio Cords After the HDMI Cord

The Sony PlayStation 3 video game console features the ability to output video in high-definition. Games, movies and downloaded videos can all be displayed in HD when configured using a compatible television and display cable, such as an HDMI cable. However, in certain situations, PS3 owners may wish to change the console back to default standard definition video and audio settings. In such cases, the PlayStation 3 features a built-in method to reset the system's audio and video output to original settings without having to use any menus.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the power button on the front of the console. The light on the front of the console will turn red to signify that the console has entered standby mode.

    • 2

Unplug the HDMI cable from the back of the console.

    • 3

Plug the standard A/V cable into the back of the PlayStation 3 console, and into the television you wish to use to display video from the console. Tune the television to the necessary channel to display the PS3's output. Refer to your television owner's manual if necessary to determine the correct channel.

Press and hold the power button on the PS3 console until the console emits two beeps. This will take approximately five seconds. The console will reset itself to the original standard definition audio and video output settings and will display on your television.
