How to Stream Video to PS3 on Mac

As media programming becomes available on the Internet in greater supply every day, having a good method to watch it on your home TV becomes more important. Streaming media from your Mac to your PS3 is a quick and easy solution to redirect media from the Internet to your living room. Setting up the proper tools only takes a few minutes, and you will be able to watch movies on your Mac in your living room in real time when you are through.

Instructions

    • 1

Ensure that your PS3 has access to your Internet network.

    • 2

Download and install Rivet for $10 or a similar media-streaming program, or Vuze, a free P2P client.

    • 3

Open Rivet or Vuze, depending on which you chose to use.

    • 4

Stream video using Rivet by clicking the "Movies" button in the Rivet menu bar. Select "Share movies located in folders:", and click the "+" sign in the bottom left.

    • 5

Browse to the folder containing the videos you would like to stream and click "OK" or "Open." You are now sharing those videos on your PS3.

    • 6

Stream video using Vuze by clicking "Turn On" in the left-hand column, next to the "Devices" section.

    • 7

Browse to the videos you would like to stream with your PS3. Click and drag the videos to the "Devices" list on Vuze. The program will then convert the videos to a different format for streaming, and place them in a folder within the Vuze program files (it will leave the original copy of the file intact). This will take longer for larger files. Once the video files are finished converting, they will be shared with the PS3 as long as Vuze is open and the PS3 and Mac with Vuze are connected via an Internet network.
