How to Call in the Artillery in Mage for the PS3

If you are just starting out playing "MAG" for the PlayStation 3, your abilities are fairly limited to attacking enemies using your basic weapons, such as assault rifles, pistols, grenades and sniper rifles. The more you play the game, the better your chances are for being promoted to the position of Squad Leader, Platoon Leader and Officer in Charge. Each of these positions enables you to use special abilities, such as calling in artillery strikes, air support, mortar barrages and other strategic orders.

  Play the game until you have reach at least level 15. As you play matches, you gain experience points which increase your level. Once you are level 15 or higher, you can be randomly assigned the position of Squad Leader. As Squad Leader, you earn Leadership Points, which you can accumulate to be promoted to Platoon Leader or Officer in Charge. All three positions have special abilities, but only Squad Leaders and Platoon leaders can call in artillery strikes.

  Play a match mode that allows the use of Leadership Abilities, such as Domination or Acquisition. Both of these modes allow Platoon Leaders and Squad Leaders to call in air strikes and use other special abilities.

  Press "Select" while playing a match as a Squad Leader or Platoon Leader. Use "L1" or "R1" to scroll through the tabs to get to the "Command Abilities" tab. Scroll through abilities to find the one you want to use. Squad Leaders can order Cluster Bombs, Recon UAV, Guided Artillery and Mortar Barrages. Platoon Leaders can order Precision Strikes, Strafing Runs, Sensor Sweeps and Gas Bombardments.

  Use the on-screen map to decide where you want to call the strike. Move the cursor with the thumbstick and follow the on-screen instructions to call in the artillery strike of your choice.
