How to Beat Flamelurker in Demon's Souls

Flamelurker, a flame-covered humanoid beast, is the penultimate boss in Stonefang Tunnel, the second world in "Demon's Souls." You must have a keen sense of timing to dodge and penetrate Flamelurker's defenses without being hit by his flame sword or crushed by his jump attack. The monster deals fire damage, so a flame-resistant shield or ring will help you in this battle. The "Red Hot Soul" is obtained after beating this demon, which you can give to the world two blacksmith to enable the crafting of rare soul items.

Instructions

  Talk to Patches, who is near a large Bearbug hanging over a platform in Stonefang Area 2-2. Follow his instructions and return to him to receive the Ring of Flame Resistance. Equip the Ring of Flame Resistance and a flame-resistant shield.

  Return to the beginning of Area 2-2 and take the left tunnel. Climb down the large hole by falling from platform to platform. Enter the tunnel at the bottom of the pit to face Flamelurker.

  Dodge Flamelurker's first attack by rolling to the right or left. Sidestep behind the demon to attack with weapons, or use the magic soul arrow attack from a distance.

  Run and roll to avoid Flamelurker's jump attack. If he lands too close to you, block the fire explosion with your shield to lessen the damage. Dodge to the side to avoid his arm swings, and position your hero behind the boss. Attacking Flamelurker from behind keeps you out of his attack range.

  Fire 10 to 20 soul arrow shots, depending on your level, or continue hacking at Flamelurker's back to defeat him. If you're running low on health or mana, hide behind a pillar to use items to replenish them.
