How to Get the Red Rock to Blow Up for the 3rd Beam in Darksiders

Getting the final beam to help free Azrael in "Darksiders" requires you to solve one of the more challenging puzzles in the game. The most difficult part of this task is destroying the red rock sitting on top of a panel that leads to the Beholder's Key near the top of the chamber where Azrael is being held. As with the other red rocks in this area, you need a sticky bomb to destroy it, but your success relies on precise timing and aim.

Instructions

  Stand in front of the red rock so that you are facing the large doorway near the bottom of the spiral stairwell. Look through the doorway to a large floating crystal that is rotating. Wait for the portal panel to appear and fire a charged portal at it.

  Look to the right of the doorway and shoot a portal onto the panel. Stand in front of this portal and watch as the floating crystal rotates -- it spins in 90-degree increments. Wait for it to face a second red rock, then watch it turn once more to an open area. Jump through the portal when it faces this area.

  Go through the large doorway in this new area and take a right to find another portal panel. Fire a portal at it, then check the rotating crystal's portal panel. If there is still a portal on it, leave it alone. If not, fire another portal at it.

  Turn around from the doorway to see a bomb sitting on the side of a pillar in the pit. Use your Abyssal Chain to shoot the bomb, which brings the bomb back to you.

  Face the portal on the panel in this room and watch as it faces the red rock in the room with the spiral staircase. When it shows the red rock, throw the bomb through the portal. If you timed it right, the bomb will cling to the red rock and explode. The timing is somewhat difficult because you can't hold the bomb for too long and the floating crystal rotates very slowly, so you may need to attempt this a few times before you succeed.
