How to Use a Zoom Modem on a PS3

A Zoom modem is a specific brand of device that allows your computer to connect to high-speed Internet connections. If you own a PlayStation 3, you can also use the Zoom modem to get your console onto the Internet. You simply need to physically connect the two devices together with an Ethernet cable. Once online, you can engage in multiplayer gaming using Sony's native "PlayStation Network" gaming service.

  Insert an Ethernet cable into the back of your Zoom modem. Stretch the Ethernet cable across your entertainment setup and insert the other end into the back of your PlayStation 3. Both the rear panels of the Zoom modem and the PlayStation 3 will only have one Ethernet input so you can't insert the cable into the wrong place on either device.

  Turn on your PS3.

  Select "Settings" from your PS3 menu.

  Open "Network Settings."

  Select "Internet Connection Settings." From the window that appears, select "Easy." Your PlayStation 3 will automatically configure itself to use the Zoom modem via the Ethernet cable. Select the "Save" option to save your settings. The PlayStation 3 will have immediate access to the Internet.
