Troubleshooting Ghostbusters for PS3

The "Ghostbusters" video game for the PlayStation 3 is an official continuation of the story last seen in the "Ghostbusters" series of films. It features a script written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis (screenwriters of the first two films) and features all of the actors, including Bill Murray, reprising their roles. If you're having problems playing the "Ghostbusters" game for the PS3 you can troubleshoot these issues in a few different ways.

Instructions

    • 1

Sign into the PlayStation Network (if you are trying to use the cooperative online features of the "Ghostbusters" game). Certain features of the game will only work if you're logged into your PlayStation Network account. Select "Sign In" from the "PlayStation Network" option on the console's main menu. Likewise, you may be prompted to sign in if you've downloaded the digital copy of the game and haven't purchased the disc based copy from a store.

    • 2

Update your PlayStation 3 as well as the "Ghostbusters" video game. Sony constantly releases firmware updates for the PlayStation 3 that improve compatibility with certain titles, including the "Ghostbusters" game. As a response, game developers typically release software updates for their games to improve compatibility with Sony's firmware. Keeping both components updated will help fix and prevent problems. Use the "System Update" feature on the PS3 menu to update the console and press "X" if prompted to update the game.

Delete the system data for your "Ghostbusters" game and reinstall it using either the disc or the digital version you purchased from the PlayStation Store. This essentially accomplishes the same thing that reinstalling a game on your computer does -- it fixes and repairs corrupt data files that are causing the game to malfunction. Open the "Game" menu from your PlayStation 3 and select "System Data." Highlight "Ghostbusters," press "Triangle" and select "Delete." Insert the game disc back into your console to reinstall or select the downloaded file to reinstall.
