How to: Subtitles on a PS3

Whether you're hearing-impaired or simply like having subtitles on while watching a movie, the Sony PlayStation 3 has you covered. In addition to English text, you can also view foreign subtitles if they are included on the disc. You can access an entire menu of video playback settings at any time during the movie, so you can easily toggle subtitles on and off without exiting the video player. Simply press the "Triangle" button during playback to access this menu.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert a DVD or Blu-ray disc into your console. The video player will open automatically after a few seconds.

    • 2

Press "Play" from the movie's menu to start the movie.

    • 3

Hit the "Triangle" button to pull up the video control panel.

    • 4

Locate the "Subtitles" icon, which looks like a rounded rectangle with four white dots inside.

    • 5

Highlight the icon and press "X" to turn on subtitles. For foreign subtitles, continue pressing "X" to scroll through the available subtitle options.

    • 6

Hit "Circle" to exit the control panel and return to the movie.
