How to Fix a Corrupted Profile on an XBox 360 Without XBox Live

When you create a gamer profile on the Xbox 360, that information is stored both locally and on the Internet. If your information ever becomes corrupted, you can just download it again from the Xbox LIVE servers directly to your console. If you no longer have an Xbox LIVE account or for some reason can't access the Internet, you can still recover your gamertag, but only if you've previously backed it up to a USB flash drive or external hard drive.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug your storage device into your Xbox 360. Use the console's USB ports to connect the device via the included cable. This can be an external hard drive or a USB flash drive.

    • 2

      Turn on your Xbox 360.

    • 3

Select "My Xbox" from the console's menu.

    • 4

Select "System Settings," followed by "Memory."

    • 5

Choose "All Devices" from the menu to view a list of all memory devices connected to your console. Your flash drive or external hard drive will be among this list.

    • 6

Select the icon for your storage device. Open the "Gamer Profiles" folder and select your gamertag.

    • 7

Select the "Move" option. Select "Hard Drive" to transfer the uncorrupted version of your gamertag to your Xbox 360 hard drive.
