In Final Fantasy 13, How Do I Get Past the First Eidolon Battle?

"Final Fantasy XIII" is the 13th game in the "Final Fantasy" franchise developed by Square Enix for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. The game features many difficult fights against bosses, and one of them pertains to the Eidolons, which are powerful summoned creatures that each of the main characters must face alone. The very first Eidolon battle in the game pits protagonist Snow against the Shiva sisters, Stiria and Nix. While these Eidolons are quite strong, they will submit to Snow if he uses the proper abilities.

     Change your paradigm to Sentinel at the start of the fight. This paradigm allows Snow to use defensive moves.

     Select "Abilities" from the combat menu, then select "Steelguard" enough times until your ATB sequence fills to its maximum.

     Wait for Nix to strike. Just before she moves to launch her attacks, submit your Steelguard abilities to begin blocking her attacks.

     Continue with Steps 2 and 3 until the Gestalt bar fills up, then press "Square" (PlayStation 3) or the "X" button (Xbox 360) to complete the first Eidolon fight.
