When the system lags, it becomes difficult to play because the games become choppy, which causes gamers to not perform as well. There are steps you can take to reduce the lag and improve your PS3's online performance.

  Use a quality router from a respected brand, such as Linksys or DLink. Contact Sony or your Internet provider and request a router that will provide top performance.

  Stop all computer downloads and file-sharing applications on your network. Limit Internet use to the game you are playing while playing games online.
