How to Change the PSN for the PS3 Step by Step

You must have a PlayStation Network (PSN) account to confirm your identity with other players and Sony to play in multi-player mode for the PlayStation 3 (PS3). Your PSN account holds important data such as your billing information and home address. Unlike other consoles like the Nintendo Wii or the Xbox 360, the PS3 allows users of the PSN to change any information with a few clicks of the controller.

  Power on your PS3 console and scroll over to the PlayStation Network icon located two icons from the far right. Press the "X" button on your PS3 controller to select the "Sign In" option.

  Sign in to your PSN account with your E-mail address and password. Press the "Sign In" button to continue.

  Scroll down and find the "Account Management" icon. Select the icon and press the "X" button on your PS3 controller again to select the "Account Information" option.

  Change any information in your account, including your billing information, sign-in ID, password, display name and avatar image. Press the "Confirm" button to save the settings after each PSN account modification.
