How to Increase the Bandwidth on a PS3

The Playstation 3 allows you to play games online with friends or stream videos and music over the Internet. To use these services, you need a clear Internet connection. Playing these games consumes a lot of bandwidth, and though you cannot increase the total amount of bandwidth available other than purchasing faster Internet service, there are ways to improve your connection. Make sure you are running only your Playstation when in use to ensure that you get the best Internet connection possible.

  Cancel any downloads such as demos or game add-ons that you are downloading. The fewer items you are running on the Playstation 3, the more bandwidth will be available.

  Update your Playstation 3 whenever it is suggested. From time to time updates may be geared toward the browser and Internet connection, improving Internet use.

  Turn off any electronics positioned between the router and the Playstation 3 that may interrupt your Internet connection. If you are running video streaming or games on the computer or other consoles online, you may also be using up bandwidth that would otherwise be available.
