How to Pair a PS3 Controller With a PS3

The PlayStation 3 (PS3) uses wireless controllers for players to input information when they use the system. When you buy a new controller or use a controller on a different PlayStation 3, you must first pair the controller to the console before you can use it. This is a short and simple process performed with the USB cable supplied with the console. Up to seven controllers can be paired to one console at any time.

     Turn on your PlayStation 3 console and plug the USB cable into one of the USB ports on the front of the console.

     Connect the other end of the USB cable to the socket on top of your PlayStation 3 controller.

     Press the "PS" button on the center of the controller. The lights will flash to confirm it is pairing with the console.
