How to Troubleshoot the Power Shut Off on a PS3

If you are unhappy with the fact that your PlayStation 3 is automatically turning itself off after a period of time, this is the result of an issue with your console's settings. The PlayStation 3 is designed to do this; it's just that the actual specified time frame is either too long or too short for your liking. You can fix this issue at any time by adjusting the settings of your PlayStation 3.

      Turn on your PlayStation 3.

      Select "Settings" from the main menu.

      Chose "Power Save Settings."

      Select "System Auto Off" to view the settings related to your PlayStation 3's automatic power shut off feature.

      Select your desired option from the list on screen. You can choose to have your PlayStation 3 automatically power off after one hour, two hours, three hours or five hours. Conversely, you can select "Off" to disable this feature altogether. Making the selection will change your console's settings.
