How to Play a PS1 ISO on a PS3

Certain PlayStation 1 video games have been rereleased in the form of disc-image files on the PlayStation Network. You can download old classics like "Street Fighter Alpha" or "Parasite Eve" and play them on your PlayStation 3 gaming console. In order to play one of these disc-image files you must first download and install it to your console from the aforementioned PlayStation Network.

  Turn on your PlayStation 3.

  Open the "PlayStation Network" menu and select the icon for the "PlayStation Store." The store will open on your console.

  Select "Games" from the top-left side of the PlayStation Store. Select the "PSOne Classics" icon to see a listing of PlayStation 1 games that you can purchase disc-image versions of for your PlayStation 3.

  Select "Add to Cart" next to the PlayStation game you want to purchase. Prices for PlayStation games vary depending on the title. Some are as low as $4.99 while others are as high as $9.99 or more, as of May 2011.

  Select "View Cart" and "Proceed to Checkout." If you have tied a credit card to your PlayStation Store account in the past, your card will automatically be charged the price of the game. If you have not, enter your credit card information. The PlayStation 1 disc image will download to your console.

  Exit the PlayStation Store and return to the console's main menu. Select "Game" from the menu and select the icon for your PlayStation disc image file to play the game on your PS3.
