How to Assign a PS3 Controller

Gamers should be comfortable with a controller for the optimal gaming experience. The Sony PlayStation 3 works with controllers wirelessly, enabling the device to support seven controllers. Controllers can be assigned to players in the XMB (XrossMediaBar) menu enabling the players to use the controller they like rather than a specific controller which is assigned to that position. The controller position is indicated by a light under the corresponding number on the back of the controller.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the PS3. The XMB™ menu will appear.

    • 2

Turn on the controller that you wish to assign by pressing the PlayStation button in the middle of the controller.

    • 3

Navigate left to the "Settings" menu. Press "X." Scroll down to the "Accessory Settings" option. Press "X."

    • 4

Scroll to the "Reassign Controllers" option. Press "X." Scroll through the controller position numbers and select the number that you would like to assign the controller to. Press "O" to finish and go back to the XMB menu.
