How to Play Video From a USB Drive on My PlayStation 3

The PlayStation 3, commonly referred to as PS3 for short, is a multimedia device that supports many video formats. In addition to Blu-Ray and DVD playback, you can also play video from a USB flash drive. All versions of the PS3 include at least two USB ports. Most USB flash drives are supported, with the exception of flash drives that require their own proprietary software to run. The PS3 supports MPEG, DivX, MP4 and AVI video formats.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the USB drive into either of the USB ports on the front of the PS3.

    • 2

Use the directional pad on the PS3 controller to scroll to the "Video" icon on the PS3 menu (the XMB Home menu).

    • 3

Press the "Triangle" button. Scroll down to "Select All" and press the "X" button. This will bring up a list of all the videos on the USB drive. Select the video you want to play and press the "X" button to begin playback.
