How to Pair a MacBook to a PS3

Creating a network link between your MacBook and PlayStation 3 allows you to use your PlayStation 3 to stream videos, audio and any other media content on your Mac on the games console. However, unlike the Xbox 360 this is not a feature already built into the PlayStation 3 so to do this you must first download the PS3 Media Server program on to your Mac.

Instructions

    • 1

Open up your Internet browser. Download the PS3 Media Server installer file from a reliable website such as MacUpdate, Kioskea or AfterDawn.

    • 2

Open up the downloaded file and install the PS3 Media Server onto your Mac. Turn on your PlayStation 3.

    • 3

Launch the Media Server program on your Mac. Wait while the program locates the PlayStation 3 on your network.

    • 4

Select the "Navigate/Share settings" tab and then choose "+" to add a new device.

    • 5

Select a folder containing the media files you would like to share with your PlayStation 3 and click "Open."

    • 6

Select the folder on your PlayStation 3 dashboard that contains the type of media you wish to share from your Mac. You will now see the files shared between your Mac and PS3.
