How to Boost a Wired Internet Signal for PS3 Using a Shared Connection

The PlayStation 3 is a popular gaming console that comes equipped with Wi-Fi, which allows you to play games online once you connect your device to the Internet. Using a router, you can share the Internet connection in your home or workplace with your PS3; however, if the signal is not strong enough, it can disrupt your game. Fortunately, there are a few ways to boost the signal on your PS3, even if you are using a shared connection.

Remove any obstacles, dust particles and clutter from around or in front of the router. Move the router as close to your PS3 as possible.

Turn your PS3 vertically so that the Wi-Fi antenna is facing upwards. The Wi-Fi antenna is located on the right side of the PS3. To better boost your signal, turn the right side of the console toward the router.

Cut the top off an aluminum soda can and rinse the inside out with warm water. Allow the inside to dry. Make a vertical slit down the left and right sides of the can. Fan it out like a flower. Cut a hole in the bottom of the can and guide your router's antenna through the hole. Point the can toward your PS3 to boost the signal.
