How to Put a Movie on Pause on PS3

The PlayStation 3 is a very capable media player that supports more video formats and encoding options than any other gaming console. As a dedicated Blu-Ray player, it features upscaling capabilities, up to 1080i resolution, 5.1 audio and support for multiple audio tracks. One of the PS3's more basic features, the ability to pause, allows you to temporarily stop the playback of any video. Pause is enabled when watching video on Blu-Ray, DVD, Netflix or video from a USB flash drive.

     Press the "Triangle" button while watching a video to open the Video Options menu.

     Use the directional pad or analog stick to move to the "Pause" icon on the center row.

     Select the "Pause" icon and press the "X" button to pause the video.
