How to Get Better Flash on Your PS3 Web Browser

Full Flash support was officially added to the Sony PlayStation 3 in 2008 with firmware version 2.53. Since then, Adobe has updated Flash many times. With each update, Flash has gotten more stable and quicker. To get the latest and greatest version of Flash on the Sony PlayStation 3, you need to update the PS3's firmware. Sony adds updated features in each firmware update.

      Select the "Settings" icon on the PS3 main menu. A list of available options is displayed.

      Select the "System Update" option from the top of the settings list. Select "Update via Internet" from the next screen.

      Select "OK" on the next screen to download the most recent PS3 update from the Sony servers.

      Press the "X" button on the PS3 controller again to begin installation of the PS3 system update. Do this after the download reaches "100%."

      Go back into the "Settings" menu of the PS3 after it reboots and select the "System Settings" option, followed by the "System Information" option.

      Verify you have updated the system by matching it with the downloaded update number. The Flash player on the PS3 is now updated with the fastest version available.
