How to Change the PS3 LAN From Strict to 2

A strict LAN NAT type on your PlayStation 3 can result in a rather poor network connection. As a result, this makes it difficult for you to connect to other players and join online games. Change the NAT type on your PS3 from strict to moderate or open by enabling Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) on your networks router.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on the "Start" button and select the search box at the bottom of the menu. Type in "Command Prompt" and select the program it brings up.

    • 2

Type "ipconfig" into the Command Prompt text box and press "Enter" on your keyboard. Write down what the "Default Gateway" is.

    • 3

Open up your Internet browser. Click on the address bar at the top of the window.

    • 4

Type in the Default Gateway and press "Enter". Insert the username and password for your router. If you have not previously created a username and password they will most likely both be "admin."

    • 5

Select the tab called "UPnP." You can sometimes find this underneath the "Advanced Settings" section. Tick the box to "Enable UPnP." Click on the "Save Changes."

    • 6

Restart your router and PS3. The NAT type is now changed from strict to either open or moderate.
