How to Connect a PS3 to a D-Link Router

A company called D-Link makes a series of wireless computer routers designed for many different types of devices, including Sony's PlayStation 3. With your PlayStation 3 connected to your D-Link you can access the Internet (via the built-in Web browser on the console) or engage in some competitive online gaming via Sony's PlayStation Network service. The choice is yours.

Instructions

    • 1

Check your D-Link router to make sure it is properly connected to the modem in your home. An Ethernet cable should be connecting the D-Link router and a broadband modem together. The lights on the front of the router should be illuminated in a solid green color.

    • 2

      Turn on your PlayStation 3.

    • 3

Select the console's "Settings" application icon.

    • 4

Choose the "Network" menu. Scan through this menu until you find the "Internet Connection Settings" option. Select this option.

    • 5

Highlight and choose the "Wireless Connection" option. Select the "Easy" option on the screen.

    • 6

Choose "Wireless." Highlight and select the option reading "Scan." Locate the name of the wireless network your D-Link router is creating and select it. Use the controller to type in your D-Link router's password (if applicable). Click on "Save" to finish connecting your PlayStation 3 to your D-Link router.
