Connecting PlayStation 3
Turn off both the PlayStation 3 and television.
Remove the HDMI cable from the "HDMI output" on the back of the PlayStation 3. To remove it, pull it straight out.
Remove the HDMI cable from the television's "HDMI input" in the same manner as above.
Plug the PlayStation AV cable into the "AV Multi Out" connector, located to the right of the "HDMI output".
Connect the component, S-video or composite cables to the input jacks on the back of the television. Be sure to match the color of the cable with the color of the jack.
Adjusting Video Settings
Turn on the television, then turn on the PlayStation 3.
Select "Settings" from the menu and select "Display Settings." Choose "Video Output Settings" and press the "X" button.
Select "AV Multi Out" as the video connector and press the "Right Triangle" button.
Confirm the display change and press the "X" button.
Confirm the new settings by pressing the "X" button.
Select the desired resolution and press the "square" button to test. Component cables support 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i resolution, while S-Video and composite cables only support 480i. Press "X" to select your resolution, and select "Yes" and press the "X" button once again to confirm your changes.
Select your television type, if using an S-video or composite connection, and press the "X" button. Confirm the settings and press the "X" button once again.
Select "Audio Input Connector" from the "Audio Output Settings" screen and press the "X" button to proceed. Press the "X" button once again to confirm your settings and close the A/V setup wizard.
