How to Fix Playstation 3 Blinking Red Light

Overuse and overheating often result in the crashing of the PlayStation 3 and the continuous blinking of the red light on the equipment. Taking care by taking short breaks while playing and turning off the console in two-hour intervals will prevent the red light from blinking.

  Turn off the PlayStation 3 as soon as the red light starts blinking. Leave overnight or for at least 10 hours to fully cool the system.

  Place a laptop cooling pad fan under the PlayStation 3 if the light still blinks after 10 hours. Turn on the PS3 and do not use or play it as you keep the fan running for an hour to cool the equipment.

  Contact Sony's support team if the equipment is within the warranty period and follow instructions. Sony may replace the PlayStation unit if the light does not stop blinking.

  Purchase a fan that is compatible with the PlayStation3 if the red light blinks when you turn on the machine. Perform this step if you are using the PS3 after the warranty period, as removing the fan will void your system's warranty. Carefully follow the instructions that come with your replacement fan.
