Instructions
Turn the PS3 off and disconnect the HDMI cable from the "HDMI Out" port on the back of the PS3.
Connect the video cable you want to use. If you're using composite AV, connect the square end of the AV cable into the "AV Multi Out" port on the back of the PS3. Connect the yellow, white and red AV prongs on the opposite side of the AV cable into the "yellow," "white" and "red" AV inputs on the TV.
If you're using component AV, connect the square end of the component AV cable into the "AV Multi Out" port on the back of the PS3. Connect the large green, blue and red component prongs on the opposite side of the component AV cable into the "green," "blue" and "red" component inputs on the TV. Connect the smaller, separate red and white AV cables on the component cable into the "red" and "white" AV inputs on the TV.
Change the display setting on the TV to the same video connection you'll be using for the PS3. If you're using component, change it to the "Component" video display mode. If you're using composite AV, change it to "AV" (it might also be titled "Input" or something similar).
Turn the PS3 on. Scroll to the "Settings" icon on the main menu. Select "Display Settings."
Scroll down to "Video Output Settings." Press the "X" button and select the video connection you're using ("Component" or "AV Multi Composite"). Press the "X" button again. The PS3 will test the connection.
Set the resolution (such as 480p, 720p or 1080i) supported by your TV. If you're not sure, try them all until you find the one that looks best. Set the TV type. Older, regular sized TVs will most likely use 4:3. Widescreen HDTVs will use 16:9.
Press the "X" button to save the settings.
