How to Completely Clean Your PS3 of Dust and Grime

A clean PlayStation 3 is a happy PlayStation 3. As your PS3 sits on a shelf in your home, dust and grime will naturally build-up in and around the console. This has the potential to short out the system, cause it to overheat or otherwise damage it.

Things You'll Need

Dry rag
Laser lens cleaner
Compressed air

Instructions

  Turn off your PlayStation 3 and use a can of compressed air to blow all the dust out from the vents on the rear of the console. Place the nozzle one or two inches away from the vent and pull back on the trigger.

  Insert your PlayStation 3 lens cleaning disc into your console -- while the console is on. The cleaning disc is inserted the same way you would put in a game disc. Allow the disc to spin around in the tray for a few minutes before removing. This will get all the dust off of the laser lens.

  Turn off your PlayStation 3 and use a dry rag with no water or cleaning solution to wipe down the exterior of your console.
