How to Manually Enter a Primary & Secondary IP Address Into PS3

The PlayStation 3 (PS3) is Sony Computer Entertainment's third home console and the first with a robust online integration system. With this home console, patches, firmware updates, games and downloadable content are accessible from the PlayStation Network (PSN), creating an always-on, Internet-enabled interface. Users who are knowledgeable about home networking can adjust various network settings on the system, either through a wireless or wired Ethernet connection.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to "Settings" on the XMB, then select "Network Settings." Select "Internet Connection Settings," then select "Yes" when you get a prompt indicating that you'll be disconnected from the Internet.

    • 2

Select "Custom," then adjust Wireless/WLAN settings if necessary. Select "Automatic" for every option. At the "IP Address Setting" screen, select "Manual."

    • 3

Enter two IP addresses, corresponding to your router's subnet. These can be any IP addresses, so long as they are not in use by any other devices on your network. The gateway address is the address corresponding to the router.
