How to Sync Your PS3 Chat Pad

The PlayStation 3 Chat Pad is a wireless QWERTY keypad accessory that attaches to your PlayStation 3 controller. The Chat Pad is powered by an internal Lithium-ion battery that can be charged by connecting the keypad to your PlayStation 3 console with a standard mini USB cable. You need to sync the device with your console before you can use the Chat Pad with your PlayStation 3. You will need to physically connect the keypad to the PlayStation 3 to sync the Chat Pad.

  Turn on the PlayStation 3 console.

  Connect the Chat Pad to the PlayStation 3 with a mini USB cable. The USB ports are located on the front panel of the PlayStation 3, and the mini USB port is located on the top of the Chat Pad.

  Turn on the Chat Pad. The power switch is on the right side of the keypad. A red light will be visible on the left side of the keypad to signify that the device is working.

  Press the "Friends" button on the Chat Pad. This button is located above the "Start" button and is marked with a square smiley face icon. Your Chat Pad is properly synced if your PlayStation Network Friends list pops up.
